Crises call for action. Trade uncertainty with our southern neighbors should prompt us to encourage and support our companies to innovate. They must continue their efforts to improve or develop new products and processes.
In the wake of the recent comments made by Investissement Québec President and CEO Bicha Ngo, a strong signal must be sent to companies to maintain, and even increase, their investments in research and development (R&D) and innovation. The sector-based industrial research clusters (RSRI) – unique in Canada – are allies of our companies in this respect.
RSRIs accelerate the competitiveness of Quebec’s priority sectors by promoting research-industry networking and supporting concrete collaborative innovation projects. Financially supported by the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie, as well as the private sector, we have a direct impact on the companies we support: innovations, increased sales, job creation and maintenance, access to highly qualified personnel, etc. In short, we maximize research and development expertise, and develop new business opportunities.
