The program targets strategic sectors of the economy that will help Quebec advance and achieve its GHG reduction goals more rapidly.

Objectives
- Encourage the development of innovative technologies and practices that help Quebec progress more rapidly toward its GHG reduction targets;
- Promote the implementation of new technologies that support GHG emission reduction;
- Mobilize businesses around collaborative innovation projects aimed at discovering GHG reduction solutions;
- Support the development of intellectual property related to new GHG-reducing technologies;
- Strengthen the adoption of clean technologies by businesses;
- Mobilize university, college, and corporate researchers around collaborative innovation projects focused on GHG reduction solutions;
- Stimulate investment in GHG-focused innovation.
Eligibility
Eligible Applicants
To qualify, the lead applicant must:
- Be affiliated with a university, an associated research centre, a CEGEP, or a College Centre for Technology Transfer (CCTT). See the full list of eligible public research centres;
- Involve at least one Quebec-based business or non-profit organization (NPO) with internal operations in production or R&D within Quebec.
Eligible Projects
Projects eligible under the GHG Reduction – Academic Stream must:
- Demonstrate the potential to reduce or avoid at least 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent emissions in Quebec over the ten (10) years following the commercialization of the product, technology, or innovation;
- Aim to develop a new product or process, or significantly improve an existing one;
- Be submitted by a Quebec public research institution (IRPQ)—a university, a CCTT, or a public research centre established in Quebec;
- Involve at least one Quebec-based business or NPO with internal operations in production or R&D;
- Municipalities, public organizations, Crown corporations, out-of-province companies, and others may also be eligible as complementary partners.
- Have a starting Technology Readiness Level (TRL) between 1 and 6. The TRL must be determined and justified by the academic partner in the collaborative research project.
Funding Terms
- Maximum funding is $500,000 per year per project, for a period of up to 3 years;
- Maximum financial assistance may cover up to 50% of the total project cost;
- Combined government funding may reach up to 80% of the total project cost;
- Private-sector contributions must represent at least 20% of the total project cost, 50% of which may be in kind.
Administration fees apply based on the total project value. Please also note that only funding applications submitted in French are eligible for consideration by the Ministry.
