Integrating artificial intelligence into environmental management

  • Value

    $465,761

  • Prompt Contribution

    $212,190

Current manual environmental data entry processes are prone to human error, which can lead to regulatory compliance issues and damage environmental management. This reality highlights the urgent need to adopt more efficient and reliable technologies.

This project, led by Concordia University in partnership with Era Environmental, proposes the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to automate the detection of anomalies in data entry, predict greenhouse gas emissions, and identify opportunities for reduction. The goal is to improve data accuracy, reduce human error in environmental reports, and increase the overall reliability of these reports.

By integrating AI into the ERA software, the project aims to optimize its use, enhancing data efficiency and integrity while providing concrete recommendations for reducing emissions.

The expected benefits for industrial partners and Quebec include:

  • Improved environmental management capabilities;
  • Enhanced regulatory compliance, reducing risks and costs associated with inadequate management;
  • Economic benefits, increasing the competitiveness of local industries on a global scale;
  • Environmental benefits, through more rigorous emissions management and sustainable practices;
  • Societal benefits, by establishing a new standard for the integration of advanced technologies into environmental management.

This project is fully aligned with the government’s objectives of sustainable development and leadership in green technological innovation.
