This project aims to develop a comprehensive framework of security solutions for cloud-native telecommunications environments, offering a flexible and cost-effective approach to hosting service functionalities on public cloud infrastructures.
These environments, while powerful, present a wider attack surface due to the complexity of virtualization, the multiplicity of entities and abstraction layers, and the lack of direct access to the infrastructure by operators. Attacks targeting these systems can cause major breakdowns in telecommunications services, resulting in significant financial losses and disrupting essential public services such as emergency calls, commercial transactions, remote medical consultations and public transport.
The project, led by Concordia University in partnership with Ericsson proposes a security framework covering :
- Identifying, modeling, quantifying and strengthening vulnerabilities and threats;
- Attack prevention, verification, detection,investigation and mitigation.
The expected results will enhance the security of future telecommunications products, while improving the protection of existing services. The industrial partner will benefit from key technology transfers and access to highly qualified expertise, contributing to innovation and competitiveness in the sector.
