ACADEMIC FUNDING TRACK

Whether your project is in quantum communications, quantum computation, quantum programming, quantum computing, metrology or quantum detection, the Quantum Technology program with its ACADEMIC funding track will help you fund a collaborative R&D project.

  • Maximum financial aid is $750,000 per project
  • Maximum financial aid may add up to 40% of the total eligible expenditures
  • Total government expenditures can add up to 80% of the project eligible expenditures
  • Private contributions must represent a minimum of 20% of the total eligible expenditures
  • Maximum project duration is 3 years

 

Note also that:  

  • Management fees apply on the total project value (see FAQ)        
  • Non-subsidized expenditures may be eligible for tax credits, in particular the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credit, based on the prevailing criteria of these programs.

To be eligible, SMEs must: 

  • Be in a partnership with an eligible research centre. Research centres must be affiliated with a university, a CEGEP, a College Centre for Technology Transfer, or a public research centre
  • Be legally incorporated under federal or Quebec laws and be registered with the Quebec Enterprise Register
  • Have their head office in Quebec and also have their employees or subcontractors working mainly in Quebec
  • Have 249 or fewer employees
  • Not be owned by more than 50% by other existing businesses or organizations

To be eligible for the ACADEMIC funding track of the Quantum Technology program, projects must:

  • Feature collaborative research in quantum technologies
  • Be conducted in partnership with a research centre affiliated with a university, CEGEP, College Centre for Technology Transfer, or an  eligible public research centre
