Quebec Cybersecurity Innovation Program

Are you a Quebec entrepreneur aiming to develop a cybersecurity innovation for your business or to bring to market?

The QCIP’s INNOVATION funding track supports and funds your project.

“The QCIP objective is to facilitate the commercialization of technologies and increase the cyber-resilience of businesses. Nearly 50 projects will be supported in this funding track. Several of these projects will help develop supply chains by integrating SMEs to local flagship companies. In the end, all of Quebec will benefit from the spinoffs of the QCIP.”

  • Fund the development of your new cybersecurity products, solutions and processes
  • Strengthen your position as a technology leader
  • Commercialize new products, processes and services and expand through value chain integration
  • Maximum financial aid of $350,000 per project
  • Maximum financial aid may represent up to 25% of eligible expenditures
  • Private contributions must represent a minimum of 50% of eligible expenditures
  • Cumulative government expenditures can total up to 50% of eligible project expenditures
  • Maximum project duration is 2 years.

 

Note also that:       

  • Management fees apply on the total project value (see FAQ)      
  • Non-subsidized expenditures may be eligible for tax credits, in particular the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax credit, based on the prevailing criteria of these programs.

To be eligible, large businesses or SMEs must:

  • Be a private for-profit company with an active place of business in Quebec
  • Be legally incorporated under federal or Quebec laws and be registered with the Quebec Enterprise Registrar
  • Have its head office in Quebec as well as having its employees or subcontractors working mainly from Quebec
  • Not be owned by more than 50% by another existing businesses or organizations

To be eligible for the QCIP INNOVATION component, projects must meet the following criteria:

  • Aim to develop innovative products / solutions / processes in cybersecurity
  • This innovation technology developed within the QCIP framework must start at technology readiness levels (NMT-TRL) 4 to 6 and can continue until TRL 9

Note that the call for QCIP INNOVATION projects is open till Mars 2024, 31th.
