Montreal, February 3, 2021 – The 10 leading organizations representing Quebec’s creative industries are joining forces to launch a joint call for projects. The PIXEL 5G program aims to drive the development of 5G applications in multimedia and video games companies. The program consists of a $10,000 grant, in addition to funding of up to $66,000 for a test project rolled out by ENCQOR 5G. This combined grant of up to $76,000 is exclusively offered to innovative SMEs in our creative industries.

Quebec is an innovation hub in the video game and interactive media industries. Always on the cutting edge of technological breakthroughs and leading trends in their respective industries, with an estimated $9.4 billion in province-wide returns in 2017*, the creative industries have secured the Quebec’s position as a leader on the international stage.

Quebec entrepreneurs, learning institutions and research centres have built a strong and collaborative innovation ecosystem that makes Quebec proud and has helped build its renown abroad. We applaud the leadership of these creative industries’ representatives who have agreed to take part in the joint call for projects. This tremendous capacity for collaboration reflects our industries’ drive and their combined willingness to accelerate innovation from and for Quebec,” said Madeleine Jean, Acting General Manager at Prompt.

With a total budget of $100,000, the PIXEL 5G program was officially launched on February 3, 2021 and runs until May 7, 2021. Projects using 5G technology that include a considerable multimedia and interactive media component, including video games, will be eligible for grants of up to $10,000 each to enhance funding for ENCQOR 5G’s funded IT projects.

To be eligible, applicants must already have iPaaS access to the ENCQOR 5G program and be in the process of submitting a funded IT project.

The PIXEL 5G program is a Prompt initiative, supported by partners and organizations in the interactive media and video game ecosystems:

Each project that receives a PIXEL 5G grant must have completed its project by March 31, 2022.
